The Final Word by Jim Thompson

We have been having some fun over at our sister publication, Nip Impressions®, talking about the pulp and paper mills of the future. One matter that has come up (and will be shown in the letters column there this week) is that, in the USA, the railroads are trying to be relieved of the burden of transporting chlorine and ammonia. At the very least, they want a new, safer, tank car specification adopted that is going to cost in the 100s of millions of U.S. dollars to implement. This will have ramifications for our industry worldwide. Here at PaperMoney® and Nip Impressions® we endeavor to keep you informed on these fringe, but important issues.
