Stockholm, Sweden 12 November 2012 -- SCA announced that it was launching a new cost cutting programme within its hygiene products operations worldwide, in addition to its program started last year. “Our efficiency program from 2011 goes according to plan and to date we have achieved more than half of the expected annual savings of EUR80m. A new efficiency program has been initiated within the hygiene operations to further reduce costs and increase productivity. It will provide annual cost savings of some €300m, with full impact in 2015. About 1,500 employees are affected and costs are expected to some €100m,” Jan Johansson, President and CEO of SCA said in a press release.

A company spokesperson confirmed that the new program involved all hygiene operations worldwide and was to be finalized by the end of 2014. Hygiene products currently account for about 80% of SCA’s sales, with the majority being achieved in Europe, but with “increasing exposure to emerging markets”.
