Poyry to Provide Engineering Services for a New RDF Power Plant in Germany

Zurich, Switzerland, 13 June 2007 -- Pöyry has been awarded a contract to provide engineering services for a combined heat and power plant in Frankfurt, Germany, by EBARA Environmental Germany. EBARA Environmental Germany is the general contractor of the Höchst EVA green field facility. The value of the assignment is about EUR 2.5 million.

Pöyry's assignment encompasses contractors engineering services for 2007 and options for engineering and site supervision services for 2008 and 2009.

The power plant is designed to produce some 270 MW thermal power with three identical combustion streams using 670,000 tons/year refuse-derived fuel (RDF). The condensing plant will generate approximately 70 MW electrical power and live steam for industrial use. RDF is produced by extracting the high calorific fraction of solid household and industrial waste. When completed in 2009, the RDF fuelled power plant will be the largest in Germany.

Pöyry is a global consulting and engineering firm focusing on the energy, forest industry, and infrastructure and environment sectors. Pöyry's net sales in 2006 amounted to about EUR 620 million and it employs 6400 experts.
