Nippon Paper Industries Commences Sales

Tokyo, Japan 22 July 2013 -- Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (President: Yoshio Haga) commences sales of Kininaru Kami copy paper on July 22, 2013 as a new product in the “Kininaru Kami” range: paper that is produced using thinned wood and is promoted by the Council for a Citizen-Oriented Campaign to Support Forestry.

The Council for a Citizen-Oriented Campaign to Support Forestry, comprised of the Kyushu Regional Forest Office, eight prefectural offices of Kyushu and Okinawa and manufacturers and logistics companies in the paper industry, launched the “Kininaru Kami” range in 2009. Through sales of products that include the use of thinned wood, the Council aims to return a portion of sales to forest owners to promote domestic forest management, revitalize forestry and mountain villages, and contribute to the prevention of global warming.

Nippon Paper Industries’ “Kininaru Kami copy paper” is characterized by its use of thinned wood from Kyushu and is produced at the Yatsushiro Mill in Yatsushiro, Kumamoto Prefecture. This copy paper follows PPC Paper N70 and PPC Paper N100 in meeting the definitions of Designated Procurement Goods under the Law on Promoting Green Purchasing (Law Concerning the Promotion of Procurement of Eco-Friendly Goods and Services by the State and Other Entities).

Nippon Paper Industries continues to promote thinned wood products by asking government agencies and private businesses to purchase “Kininaru Kami copy paper”, which is proudly made in Kyushu.
