Kruger to Resume Sawmill Operations Temporarily at Saint-Roch-de-Mékinac

Montreal, Quebec, Canada, 10 February 2010 – Kruger Inc. today announced that it will resume operations at its Saint-Roch-de-Mékinac sawmill for 18 weeks starting in February, to process its inventory of harvested timber. Operations will resume gradually, with about 15 employees to be called back to work on 15 February for debarking operations. Then approximately 75 additional employees will return to work on 01 March for sawmill, drying, and transportation operations. Kruger Inc. also will recall 18 employees for planing operations at its Saint-Séverin-de-Proulxville mill on 22 March 2010.

Operations will continue until early July, after which they will again be suspended indefinitely. The company had to halt operations at all of its sawmills last September because of market conditions, especially continuing weak demand for lumber and a strong Canadian dollar.

Founded in 1904, Kruger Inc. is a major producer of publication papers, tissue, lumber, and other wood products, corrugated cartons from recycled fibers, green and renewable energy, and wines and spirits. The company also is a leader in paper and paperboard recycling in North America.
