Klabin Reduces the CO2 Emission in Their Units

São Paulo, Brazil, South America 17 January 2014 -- Largest producer and exporter of paper in Brazil, Klabin invests in projects that reduce the impact of their operations on the environment. As a result of work done in each production unit, the company ended the past year with excellent rates.

Between 2004 and 2012, the company reduced 61% of Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emissions in kg CO2 equivalent per tonne of paper produced. The company also reduced oil consumption over the last five years. Or the equivalent of 171,000 tons of CO2 per year unless released into the atmosphere - about 57 tons / year were reduced.

In water consumption, one of the best indexes of business is at Unit Otacílio Costa, Santa Catarina, which in 2013 used less than 28 cubic meters of water per ton of paper produced. The index is one of the best in the industry and was achieved after the implementation of a project to optimize the cooling of the production process.
