West Chester, Ohio, USA 06 December 2016 -- (From the Cincinnati Business Courier) -- An Atlanta-based manufacturer is adding to its West Chester plant, kicking in an $18 million capital investment and adding 29 jobs under a tax credit agreement with the state of Ohio approved on Monday.

Georgia-Pacific Corrugated, a manufacturer and marketer of paper products, paper-based packaging and chemical products, is adding a digital web printing press for packaging, according to the company.

Georgia-Pacific Corrugated, a manufacturer and marketer of paper products, paper-based packaging and chemical products, is adding a digital web printing press for packaging at its West Chester plant.

The new positions will include press operators and some salaried graphic artists, salespeople, customer service personnel and engineers. Some of the salaried positions will be based out of a small Cincinnati office.

Digital printing is a relatively new technology to the paper-based packaging industry and has advantages over traditional analog printing including better quality, faster service and the ability to customize large and small orders, said Julie VanDeWater, Georgia-Pacific's manager for manufacturing communications.

It's the second digital press Georgia-Pacific has bought, with the first located in Richmond, Ind. The West Chester location was picked because the company's customers and other plants are nearby and there's a high caliber of talent in the area. Georgia-Pacific also will retain 82 other jobs in West Chester under the agreement approved by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority.

"This investment is an expansion of our print capabilities and provides our customers with more options and flexibility when it comes to their packaging needs," said Julie VanDeWater, Georgia-Pacific's manager for manufacturing communications. "Our West Chester plant is the perfect location to offer this expanded capability."
