Fire at Amcor Site in Livingston, Scotland

Livingston, Scotland 16 September, 2010 --  Earlier today a serious fire started in Amcor Flexibles Europe & America’s (AFEA) plant in Livingston, Scotland, causing significant damage to the main facility and secondary buildings. Fire fighters are on site and are containing the situation.

Thanks to Amcor’s strong focus on safety, all coworkers were quickly evacuated according to emergency procedures and everyone has been accounted for. One of the 84 coworkers suffered a minor burn to the back of their hand and is being examined at a local hospital. The well-being and safety of all coworkers at the site is Amcor’s top priority.

AFEA’s culture of customer and market focus and dedication to seamless operations means an action plan to meet customers’ needs through alternative resourcing is already fully active.

Amcor thanks all involved, particularly the local emergency services, for their quick response.
