Boise Cascade Wood Products Buys Sawmill From Stimson Lumber

Boise, Idaho, USA, 01 February 2012 -- Boise Cascade Wood Products, L.L.C., a subsidiary of Boise Cascade, L.L.C., announced today the purchase of the assets of the Stimson Lumber Company sawmill in Arden, Washington. The details of the transaction were not disclosed.
“Given the mill is geographically located near our Kettle Falls operations and is a well designed, highly efficient facility, the Arden sawmill is a nice complement to our lumber business,” said Tom Insko, Inland Region manager for Boise Cascade. “Initially we will operate the sawmill on a single shift and its production will integrate well with our Kettle Falls Lumber output, but in the longer-term, the Arden mill offers us the flexibility to expand production as markets improve.”
The purchase closed on 01 February 1, and the sawmill became part of Boise Cascade’s Inland Region.

Boise Cascade plans initially to complete the processing of Stimson’s cedar logs through the facility for approximately four weeks and will then transition to its own pine production. “We have hired a majority of the 52 employees that previously worked for Stimson at the Arden mill, and we are pleased to have the experienced team with a history of industry-leading safety performance joining our organization,” noted Insko.

Boise Cascade manufactures engineered wood products, plywood, lumber, and particleboard and distributes a broad line of building materials, including wood products manufactured by the company. The company is privately owned and headquartered in Boise, Idaho. Visit Boise’s Web site at www.bc.com.
