Crown Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Design

Cincinnati, Ohio, USA 06 June 2013 -- Following weeks of painstaking work, Mimoza Haska of Surfside Beach, SC was named the winner of the Ninth Annual Cheap Chic Weddings Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest, developed by Cheap-Chic-Weddings.com and supported in part by Charmin. Celebrity judge Kate Pankoke, bridal couture designer and Project Runway Season 11 contestant, helped select the winner at the contest finale event at RK Bridal in Manhattan earlier today where Haska received a check for $2,000. Contestants were required to craft dresses out of nothing more than Charmin toilet paper, tape, glue and/or needle and thread, and this year, more than 1100 entrants were up to the challenge.

“As a designer who specializes in bridal, I was particularly impressed with the level of creativity the three finalists brought to their designs,” says Pankoke. “It was incredible to see how they used Charmin toilet paper to create soft and sturdy gowns that are as beautiful as those made from fine fabrics, and Haska’s dress was stunning!”

Cheap-Chic-Weddings.com, which operates as a money-saving website for brides-to-be, began the annual contest nine years ago based on the popular bridal shower game. As the contest has increased in popularity from year to year, so has the level of competition.

“The quality of talent that presents itself each year continues to amaze us,” says Susan Bain, co-founder of Cheap Chic Weddings. “This year’s entries included several dresses that featured intricate detail like embroidery, pleating and more.”

This marks the third time Charmin has partnered in the contest and provided coupons for contest entrants to help cover the cost of purchasing the rolls of Charmin used in creating each dress, which ranged from two to 40 rolls in some cases, and featured Charmin Basic, Charmin Ultra Soft, Charmin Ultra Strong, and even a vintage Charmin product from the 1970s.

“Charmin is delighted to be involved in Cheap Chic Weddings Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest,” says Victoria Schooler, P&G Communications Specialist. “We’re continually inspired by these dresses and couldn’t imagine a more fun, playful and unique way to showcase the different Charmin brands. Congratulations to Mimoza Haska and all the finalists on their beautiful designs.”

Mimoza Haska was joined at the finale event by the other two contest finalists. Runner-up Susan Brennan from Orchard Lake, MI received a check for $1,000, and third place winner Carol Touchstone from Fort Lauderdale, FL received a check for $500.
